IH Engineers provided construction inspection services for this $151 million expansion and reconstruction of the Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn, NY. This project consisted of widening the expressway at several points and interim repair to the deck and structural systems. It also included demolition and replacement of the existing concrete deck, replacement of deteriorated bolts, rivets, diaphragms, bracing, reinforcement, replacement of deteriorated stringers and floor beams, structure painting including containment systems, and extensive maintenance and protection of traffic since this is one of the busiest highways in New York City.
