RAISING THE ROADWAY OF THE BAYONNE BRIDGE

IH Engineers, P.C. is serving as a subconsultant to HDR/Parsons Brinckerhoff, Joint Venture, on this project. The overall scope of work includes increasing the navigation clearance utilizing the existing arch superstructure from 151’ to 215’ above mean high water. The New York and New Jersey approach substructures will be either replaced or reinforced and seismically retrofitted to support the new approach superstructures. The New Jersey Viaduct will be replaced.

IH Engineers’ structural scope of work involves a 12 foot wide pedestrian/bicyclist access along the east fascia of the Bayonne Bridge within the main arch span. The pedestrian access includes preliminary and final design of the sidewalk with an access hatch for maintenance, railings and anti climbing fence. Submission documents include construction plans and details, specifications and cost estimate. IH Engineers will also be providing construction support services such as responding to requests for information and shop drawing review.
