IH Engineers served as the Prime Consultant to the NJ Turnpike Authority, responsible for coordinating inspection and developing repair schemes for fifteen bridges, developing a prioritization list for recommended structures in order of severity (primarily bearings and substructures), developing repair plans, supplementary specifications, engineer’s cost estimate, and MPT plans.
The structure in these photographs, GSP 28.5SB over Drag Channel, is a 19 span pre-stressed beam superstructure with concrete pier caps atop timber piles, and it is on the priority repair list. Required work consists of pier cap and pre-stressed beam repairs.
